16:19 Era un om bogat, care se imbraca in porfira si in subtire; si in fiecare zi ducea o viata plina de veselie si stralucire.

Un om bogat. [Bogatul si Lazar. Luca 16,19-31. Despre parabole vezi p. 203-207]. Pentru putinul ce se cunoaste despre imprejurarile in care a fost rostita parabola aceasta vezi la v. 1, 14. Parabola a fost evident adresata Fariseilor in special (vezi cap. 15,2; 16,14), desi erau de fata ucenicii (cap. 16,1), ,,vamesii si pacatosii” (cap. 15,1) si fara indoiala si un mare numar de ascultatori (vezi la cap. 12,1; 14,25; 15,1).

In parabola aceasta Isus continua invatatura prezentata in parabola cu ispravnicul necinstit (cap. 16,1-12), ca folosirea prilejurilor vietii de acum hotaraste soarta viitoare (vezi v. 1, 4, 9, 11, 12). Parabola fusese adresata indeosebi ucenicilor (vezi la v. 1), dar in v. 9 Isus se intorsese de la ucenici la Fariseii de fata (vezi la v. 9). Fariseii refuzau sa accepte invataturile lui Isus cu privire la ispravnicie si isi bateau joc de El (vezi v. 14). Isus a aratat apoi ca ei ar putea fi onorati de oameni, dar ca Dumnezeu le citea inima ca pe o carte deschisa (vezi la v. 15). Ei avusesera lumina indestulatoare; se bucurasera indelung de invatatura din ,,Lege si prooroci” si, incepand cu lucrarea lui Ioan, avusesera parte in plus de lumina Evangheliei (vezi la v. 16). In v. 17, 18 Isus afirma ca principiile expuse in ,,Lege” sunt imutabile – Dumnezeu nu S-a schimbat – si le da un exemplu in ce priveste acest sublim adevar. Parabola cu bogatul si Lazar este data pentru a arata ca soarta este decisa in viata de acum de felul in care omul foloseste privilegiile si prilejurile care i se ofera (vezi COL 260). In primul rand, ,,omul bogat” reprezinta pe toti oamenii care folosesc rau ocaziile vietii si intr-un sens colectiv, el reprezinta si natiunea iudaica, care, ca si bogatul, facea o greseala fatala (vezi COL 267). Parabola consta din doua scene, un reprezentand viata aceasta (v. 19-22) si cealalta pe cea viitoare (v. 23-1). Parabola cu ispravnicul necredincios aborda problema din punct de vedere pozitiv, adica, din punctul de vedre al cuiva care facea pregatiri pentru viitor. Parabola bogatului si a lui Lazar abordeaza aceeasi problema din punct de vedre negativ, adica, din punctul de vedere al cuiva care nu a facut o astfel de pregatire. Bogatul gresea crezand ca mantuirea este intemeiata pe descendenta din Avraam si nu pe caracter (c. Ezechiel 18).

Ca si toate celelalte parabole, aceea a omului bogat si Lazar trebuie sa fie interpretata in armonie cu contextul ei si cu ideea generala a Bibliei. Unul din cele mai importante principii de interpretare este acela ca fiecare parabola era menita sa invete un adevar fundamental si ca detaliile parabolei nu trebuie in mod necesar sa aiba insemnatate in ele insele decat ca elemente sustinatoare ale povestirii. Cu alte cuvinte, amanuntele unei parabole nu trebuie sa fie impuse ca avand un inteles literal in termenii adevarului spiritual afara de cazul ca contextul arata clar ca este intentionat un astfel de inteles. Din principiul acesta se dezvolta un altul – ca nu este intelept sa se foloseasca amanuntele unei parabole spre a se sustine o doctrina. Numai invatatura fundamentala a parabolei asa cum este expusa clar in contextul ei si confirmata de sensul general al Scripturii, impreuna cu amanuntele explicate in contextul insusi, pot fi considerate in mod legitim ca o baza pentru doctrina. Vezi p. 203, 204. Sustinerea ca Isus intentiona ca parabola aceasta sa invete ca oamenii, buni sau rai primesc rasplata la moarte calca amandoua aceste principii.

Asa dupa cum este aratat clar in context (vezi mai sus), parabola aceasta era menita sa arate ca destinul viitor este determinat de felul in care oamenii folosesc ocaziile acestei vieti. Isus nu discuta nici starea omului in moarte, nici timpul cand vor fi date rasplatirile: El doar facea o distinctie clara intre viata aceasta si cea urmatoare si arata legatura fiecareia cu cealalta. In plus, interpretarea acestei parabole ca invatand ca oamenii isi primesc rasplata imediat la moarte contrazice clar propriile declaratii ale lui Isus ca ,,Fiul Omului…va rasplati fiecaruia dupa faptele lui” cand ,,are sa vina in slava Tatalui Sau cu ingerii Sai” (vezi la Matei 16,27; 25,31-41; cf. 1 Corinteni 15,51-55; 1 Tesaloniceni 4,16.17; Apocalipsa 22,12; etc.). Una din regulile cele mai importante de interpretare este ca expresiile si naratiunile figurate trebuie sa fie intelese in termenii afirmatiilor literale ale Scripturii cu privire la adevarurile la care se face referire. Chiar si aceia care incearca sa forteze parabola aceasta sa intre intr-o forma de interpretare care invata contrariul contextului imediat si sensului general al invataturilor lui Hristos admit ca multe din amanuntele parabolei sunt figurate (vezi la v. 22-26).

Pe buna dreptate s-ar putea pune intrebarea: ,,Pentru ce trebuia sa introduca Isus intr-o parabola ilustratii figurate care nu reprezinta in mod exact adevarul care este prezentat clar in alta parte in Scripturi, si indeosebi in propriile Sale afirmatii literale?” Raspunsul este ca El ii intampina pe oameni pe propriul lor teren. Multi din cei adunati –fara nici cel mai neinsemnat motiv scriptural VT – ajunsesera sa creada in doctrina unei stari constiente de existenta intre moarte si inviere (vezi COL 263). Credinta aceasta eronata, care nu apare in VT, strabate literatura postexilica iudaica in general (vezi p. 83-102) si, ca si multe alte credinte traditionale, devenise parte din Ierusalim pe vremea lui Isus (vezi la Marcu 7,7-13). In parabola aceasta Isus doar facea uz de o credinta populara pentru ca prin aceasta sa faca impresionant de clara o invatatura importanta pe care El cauta sa o sadeasca in mintea ascultatorilor Sai. De asemenea, s-ar putea nota ca, in parabola precedenta, aceea cu ispravnicul necredincios (Luca 16,1-12), Isus nici nu a laudat, nici nu a aprobat felul de purtare al ispravnicului necredincios, desi actiunea aceea constituie partea principala a povestirii (vezi la v. 8).

Chiar si International Critical Commentary comenteaza dupa cum urmeaza la v. 22: ,,Se sustine principiul general ca fericirea si mizeria dupa moarte sunt determinate de purtarea dinaintea mortii; dar amanuntele tabloului sunt luate din credintele iudaice cu privire la starea sufletelor in Seol [vezi la Proverbele 15,11] si nu trebuie intelese ca aproband credintele acelea”.

Uneori se atrage atentia la faptul ca Isus nu afirma ca istorisirea cu omul bogat si Lazar este o parabola, cel putin aparent in ce priveste relatarea lui Luca (desi un manuscris vechi [D] o numeste parabola), in timp ce, in alta parte parabolele sunt intitulate de obicei asa (Matei 13,3.24.33.44.45.47). Dar ar trebui aratat ca, desi Isus facea de obicei introducerea unei parabole fie afirmand ca ea era o parabola, fie spunand ca Imparatia cerului era ca o persoana sau ca un lucru in imprejurarile specifice pe care apoi incepea sa le relateze, totusi nu facea intotdeauna asa (vezi Luca 15,8.11; 16,1 de exemplu). La fel se intampla si cu unele din parabolele VT ca de pilda acelea din Judecatori 9,8-15 si 2 Regi 14,9 si cu toate acestea nimeni nu sustine a crede ca deoarece parabolele acestea nu sunt clar intitulate ca atare trebuie sa fie luate literal. Falsitatea unui astfel de argument este evidentiata printr-o simpla citire a celor cateva referinte citate.

In acest ,,om bogat” Isus intentiona fara indoiala ca Fariseii sa se vada pe ei insisi si in nefericita experienta a ,,omului bogat” sa zugraveasca propria lor soarta nenorocita (vezi la v. 14). Comparati acest ,,om bogat” cu cel din parabola precedenta (v. 1). Traducerea gr. plousios, ,,bogat” prin latinescul dives in Vulgata a dat nastere la traditia populara ca numele omului era Dives. Diferite alte nume apar in diferite versiuni, probabil ca rezultat al parerii ca daca saracului din parabola i se da numele, asa ar fi trebuit sa se intample si cu cel bogat.

Porfira. [,,Purpura”, KJV]. Gr. porphura, ,,o tesatura de purpura”, ,,o haina facuta din stofa de purpura”; aici probabil se refera la vesmantul costisitor din afara, ,,manta” (Gr. himation; vezi la Matei 5,40), vopsita intr-o culoare a purpurei regale. Purpura era culoarea demnitatii regale. Originar, porphura se referea la o specie de scoici obisnuite in Mediterana, murex, din care se extragea vopsea purpurie. Apoi, termenul sau echivalentul lui a ajuns sa fie aplicat fie la stofa vopsita astfel, fie la un vesmant facut din stofa aceea (vezi Marcu 15,17.20; Fapte 16,14; Apocalipsa 17,4; etc.). Vopseaua aceasta aparea in trei nuante care puteau fi descrise ca purpura, carmin, si albastru.

In subtire. [,,In fin”, KJV; ,,In de mare pret”, G. Gal.]. Gr. bussos, ,,in” sau ,,panza de in” sau stofa facuta din el; aici probabil se refera la vesmantul de dedesubt, ,,veston” sau ,,tunica” (gr. chiton; vezi la Matei 5,40), facuta din in egiptean. La inceput bussos se referea la inul insusi si apoi a ajuns sa fie aplicat la panza de in facuta din in. Asa cum ,,purpura” era culoarea demnitatii regale, ,,inul subtire” era trasatura luxului (vezi Apocalipsa 18,12; 19,8. 14).

Special note for ANDROID SmartPhones
I recommend to download PhoneMe emulator for Android from here. Especially I recommend phoneME Advanced - Foundation Profile + MIDP High Resolution b168 rev20547 from here, or from here.

Then you have to build your application, to transfer the .jar and .jad files on your mobile phone and run using this nice emulator.

1. Install a Zip Utility from Android Market.

2. Install a File Manager from Android Market.

3. Download and install PhoneMe, as mentioned above.

4. Build your application by using Download Multilingual Service or Dynamic Download (zip).

5. Copy the zip file into your Android Phone and unzip the content in a folder, and then write down the path to the unzipped files and the name of the .jad file.

6. Launch PhoneMe from your smartphone.

7. Inside PhoneMe, write to the main window the path and the name to the .jad file, above mentioned. Will look something like: file:///mnt/sd/download/BiblePhone.jad and then press enter.

8. The application will be installed, and next a hyperlink will be available below the above mentioned textbox. On this way you can install as many of MIDP application you like on your Android Phone.


How to install the application in Java Mobile enabled phones

It is possible now to have the Holy Scriptures on your mobile phone and to read it wherever you are due to the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) technology in 1.0 and 2.0 versions, developed for Java applications.

A good advice is to try in the beginning the MIDP 1.0 / 128 Kbytes version, and progressively to advance to MIDP 2.0 and larger volumes (512 Kbytes or more).

The application is available for MIDP 2.0, MIDP 1.0. You have only to select one table on the field MIDP2.0 or MIDP1.0, according to the desired Bible version. Then, you shall make a click on the JAR (Java Archive) file in order to obtain the software to be installed on your mobile phone.

I recommend you to start with STARTER(MIDP1.0old) edition, then to continue with INTERMEDIATE(MIDP1.0), and in the end, if the mobile phone supports this thing, to try to install the ADVANCED (MIDP2.0) edition. Also, start with 128 kbytes volumes, continue with 512 kbytes, and at the end try the version in one file.

There are cases where the mobile phone requires so called JAD (Java Descriptor) files. These JAD files has to be uploaded, on this case, together with the desired JAR files(s).

There are different methods to download the applications in your mobile phone as follows:
1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone
3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone
4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
5. If none from the above cases are valid

Next, we shall examine each case in order to have a successfully installation of the software.


1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
 

If your have Internet access on your mobile phone (e.g. WAP or GPRS), it is enough to access https://biblephone.intercer.net/wap/  from the browser of the mobile phone, and to access the desired Bible version, and then to make an option about MIDP1.0 or MIDP2.0, and finally to select the desired module (e.g. one or more). After the last selection, the desired version will be downloaded on your mobile phone.

Many phones have only this option for installing JAVA appplications.

2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone

Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.

If you don't have access to Internet directly from your mobile phone, then you shall have to pass to this step requiring to have infrared ports on your mobile phone and on the computer.
a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have to activate the infrared port on the mobile phone and align it with the infrared port of the computer (preferable laptop).

c. Then a window will appear asking what file you want to send to the mobile phone. Next, you will select the downloaded JAR file, and after OK, the mobile phone will ask you if you want to load that file. You say YES and the application will be downloaded on your mobile phone.
d. Probably, you will be asked by the mobile phone where you want to save it (e.g. on the games or applications directories). After you made this selection, the file will be ready to be loaded for run.
The displaying preference can be set inside the application in order to have larger fonts, full screen display etc.

3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone

Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.
This situation is similar with the infrared case. You have only to activate Bluetooth access on your mobile phone (check if exists) and on the computer (check if exists).

4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.
On this case the steps are as follows:

a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have to set up the wired connection between the mobile phone and the computer. Next, you will start the synchronization / data transfer application and download the JAR file in your mobile phone. Surely, you will have to consult the CD of your mobile phone.
c. By this application you shall transfer into your mobile phone the JAR file in the games or applications directories. Next, you will have to select for run the JAR desired file.

5. If none from the above cases are valid
On this unhappy case, I recommend you to find a friend with a laptop having infrared / Bluetooth capabilities, or to buy a data link cable, or to change your current model of mobile phone.
Unfortunately, some models of mobile phones require only WAP/GPRS in order to download and run Java applications.


Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones. Therefore check the documentation of them and also the page for specific models.

Why so many versions? Simple, because not all the mobile phones support the Bible in one file with MIDP 2.0 (the most advanced for the time being).
