38:1 Doamne, nu ma mustra in mania Ta, si nu ma pedepsi in urgia Ta.

INTRODUCERE. - Psalmul 38 este o rugaciune de penitenta (vezi Psalm 6; vezi p.624). Psalmistul descrie o suferinta intensa, atat fizica, cat si sufleteasca. El arata ca trupul sau este chinuit de dureri, iar sufletul sau de neliniste, pe de o parte din cauza simtamantului de condamnare si pe de alta parte din cauza temerii de vrasmasii. Suferintele sunt amplificate de faptul ca aceia care ar fi trebuit sa fie prietenii sai l-au parasit atunci cand el avea cea mai mare nevoie de intelegerea si mangaierea lor. Psalmul are trei parti, fiecare incepand cu un apel catre Dumnezeu: v. 1-8, marimea suferintelor sale; v. 9-14, rabdarea celui care sufera; v. 15-22, cererea de ajutor, ca nu cumva cei nelegiuiti sa aiba motive sa se laude cu nenorocirea lui. Psalmul e caracterizat prin forme neobisnuite de verbe, prin paralelisme concise, prin jocuri de cuvinte si prin ritmuri ales cumpanite.

1. Nu ma mustra. Compara cu Psalm 6,1.

38:2 Caci sagetile Tale s-au infipt in mine, si mana Ta apasa asupra mea.

Sagetile Tale. Simboluri ale pedepselor lui Dumnezeu (vezi Psalm 7,13).

Apasa asupra mea. Vezi Psalm 32,4.

38:3 N-a mai ramas nimic sanatos in carnea mea, din pricina maniei Tale; nu mai este nici o vlaga in oasele mele, in urma pacatului meu.

Sanatos. Vezi Isaia 1,6. Simptomele descrise aici, impletite cu faptul ca prietenii celui bolnav

l-au parasit (vezi v. 7.11), transmit ideea ca boala era cat se poate de respingatoare.

Vlaga. [Odihna, KJV]. Ebr. shalom, "pace", incetarea suferintei.

In urma pacatului meu. Psalmistul isi da seama ca suferinta sa e o pedeapsa pentru pacatul sau. Toata suferinta este urmarea patrunderii pacatului in univers, iar suferinta personala este adesea rezultatul direct al savarsirii raului. "Ce seamana omul aceea va si secera" (Galateni 6,7). Dumnezeu nu savarseste o minune pentru a feri pe oameni de consecintelor calcarii legilor Sale (vezi CD 29). Daca oamenii ar fi scutiti de rezultatele dezastruoase ale raului savarsit de ei, pacatosii ar ajunge sa fie foarte indrazneti in nelegiuirea lor.

Cu toate acestea, nu orice suferinta este rezultatul direct al pacatului personal al celui in cauza. Multi din cei din vechime considerau ca orice suferinta este pedeapsa pentru vreo fapta rea savarsita fie de cel ce suferea, fie de parintii lui (Ioan 9,2). Tot astfel ei judecau gradul de vinovatie al omului dupa marimea suferintei. "Satana, autorul pacatului si al tuturor urmarilor lui, i-a facut pe oameni sa considere ca boala si moartea vin de la Dumnezeu, ca o pedeapsa aplicata in mod arbitrar in urma pacatului" (DA 471). Din cauza acestei conceptii gresite ei au privit pe Tatal ceresc ca pe unul care aplica dreptate in mod aspru si exigent.

Multi crestini au aceeasi parere gresita. In ciuda invataturilor din cartea lui Iov si a invataturilor date de Isus (vezi Luca 13,16; Fapte 10,38; cf. 1 Corinteni 5,5; 2 Corinteni 12.7), crestinii acestia considera ca Dumnezeu aduce boala.

Iata adevarata filozofie a suferintei: "Suferinta este pricinuita de Satana si e dirijata de Dumnezeu in scopuri pline de indurare" (DA 471). Motivul pentru care Dumnezeu nu-i scuteste totdeauna pe copiii Sai de boala si suferinta este ca, daca ar face-o, Satana ar aduce aceleasi acuzatii impotriva Lui ca cele pe care le-a adus si in cazul lui Iov, ca Dumnezeu il inconjurase in mod necinstit pe slujitorul Sau (Iov 1,10). Dumnezeu trebuie sa-i ingaduie lui Satana sa-i chinuiasca pe cei drepti, astfel incat ca orice acuzatie de lipsa de loialitate sa fie dovedite, in final, fara temei.

In felul acesta cel care sufera poate afla mangaiere la gandul ca desi "un sol al lui Satana" il palmuieste (vezi 2 Corinteni 12,7), Dumnezeu dirijeaza totul in scopuri pline de indurare si face ca in final suferinta sa lucreze spre binele celui in cauza (vezi Romani 8,28).

38:4 Caci faradelegile mele se ridica deasupra capului meu; ca o povara grea, sunt prea grele pentru mine.

Faradelegile mele. Se accentueaza sensul v. 3.

Prea grele. Schimbarea brusca de imagine de la ideea pacatului care trece peste cap, asemenea valurilor marii, la ideea poverii pacatului peste masura de grea poate sugera invalmaseala de ganduri ca rezultat al bolii (vezi la v. 8.10).

38:5 Ranile mele miros greu si sunt pline de coptura, in urma nebuniei mele.

Pline de coptura. [Sunt stricate, KJV]. Literal, "inveninate", "putrede".

38:6 Sunt garbovit, peste masura de istovit; toata ziua umblu plin de intristare.

Umblu plin de intristare. Compara cu Iov 1,20; 2,8; Psalm 35,14.

38:7 Caci o durere arzatoare imi mistuie maruntaiele, si n-a mai ramas nimic sanatos in carnea mea.

O durere arzatoare. [Boala respingatoare, KJV]. Simptomele par sa indice o boala respingatoare cu o inflamatie puternica. Sanatos. Vezi la v. 3.

38:8 Sunt fara putere, zdrobit cu desavarsire; tulburarea inimii mele ma face sa gem.

Sunt fara putere. Sau "sunt amortit".

Gem. Compara cu Psalm 22,1. Vocea exprima cel mai mare chin sufletesc. Odata cu versetul acesta psalmistul incheie partea principala a prezentarii simptomelor fizice ale suferintei sale.

38:9 Doamne, toate dorintele mele sunt inaintea Ta, si suspinele mele nu-Ti sunt ascunse.

Inaintea Ta. Psalmistul recunoaste ca Dumnezeu cunoaste dorinta lui de iertare si vindecare si ca nu e nevoie sa repete rugaciunea sa. El trebuie sa lase cazul sau in grija lui Dumnezeu. Noi nu suntem ascultati datorita discursului nostru lung, ci pe masura dorintelor inimii si devotiunii noastre. "Adevarata rugaciune antreneaza energiile sufletului si afecteaza viata" (4T 535).

Versetul acesta este singura raza de mangaiere in v. 1-14. E suficient pentru psalmist sa realizeze ca poate sa-si descarce inima inaintea unui Dumnezeu care cunoaste si poarta de grija.

38:10 Inima imi bate cu tarie, puterea ma paraseste, si lumina ochilor mei nu mai este cu mine.

Inima-mi bate cu tarie. Complicatiile bolii includ palpitatii ale inimii, slabiciune si orbire partiala. Bolnavul este istovit din cauza agoniei suferintei sale si se afla de fapt pe pragul mortii.

38:11 Prietenii si cunoscutii mei se departeaza de rana mea, si rudele mele stau de o parte.

Prietenii. Compara cu Psalm 31,11. Ei nu doresc sa se apropie de bolnav, probabil de teama sa nu se imbolnaveasca si ei (vezi Iov 19,13-20). Poate instrainarea aceasta era una din sagetile v.

2. Rana. Ebr. nega', "lovitura", "plaga", folosit pentru nenorocire sau judecata (vezi Genesa 12,17; Exod 11,1).

Aici psalmistul trece de la suferinta care provine din propria stare fizica si mentala la suferinta care e agravata de purtarea prietenilor sai care l-au parasit si a vrajmasilor care au uneltit impotriva lui.

38:12 Cei ce vor sa-mi ia viata isi intind cursele; cei ce-mi cauta nenorocirea, spun rautati, si toata ziua urzesc la inselatorii.

Verset ce nu a fost comentat.

38:13 Iar eu sunt ca un surd, n-aud; sunt ca un mut, care nu deschide gura.

Un surd. Psalmistul nu a dat atentiei vorbirii vorbirea de rau a vrasmasilor sai si n-a scos un cuvant cand a fost persecutat.

38:14 Sunt ca un om, care n-aude, si in gura caruia nu este nici un raspuns.

38:15 Doamne, in Tine nadajduiesc; Tu vei raspunde, Doamne, Dumnezeule!

In Tine. La treilea apel direct catre Dumnezeu (vezi v. 1.9).

38:16 Caci zic: Nu ingadui sa se bucure vrajmasii mei de mine, si sa se fuduleasca impotriva mea, cand mi se clatina piciorul!

38:17 Caci sunt aproape sa cad, si durerea mea este totdeauna inaintea mea.

38:18 Imi marturisesc faradelegea, ma doare de pacatul meu.

imi marturisesc. [Voi declara, KJV]. O marturisire deplina a pacatului. Psalmistul nu ascunde nimic. Suferinta este salutara (vezi la v. 3). Psalmistul cunoaste satisfactia adevaratei pocainte.

38:19 Dar vrajmasii mei sunt plini de viata si plini de putere; cei ce ma urasc fara temei, sunt multi la numar.

Dar vrajmasii mei. Psalmistul este descumpanit cand vede ca nelegiuitii continua sa prospere si sa fie sanatosi.

38:20 Ei imi intorc rau pentru bine, imi sunt potrivnici, pentru ca eu urmaresc binele.

Pentru ca. Cauza fundamentala a comportarii vrasmasilor sai era ca el fusese un om bun care facuse binele. Pacatul nu poate sa tolereze bunatatea. Stricaciunea completa nu poate sa suporte neprihanirea (vezi 1 Ioan 3,12).

38:21 Nu ma parasi, Doamne! Dumnezeule, nu Te departa de mine!

Nu ma parasi. Vezi Psalm 22,11.19.

38:22 Vino degraba in ajutorul meu, Doamne, Mantuirea mea!

Mantuirea mea. Vezi Psalm 27,1. Cuvintele de incheiere ale psalmului arata rezultatele binecuvantate ale suferintei psalmistului. Incercarile l-au facut pe psalmist sa strige staruitor la Dumnezeu, singurul care ii putea oferi mantuirea.

Special note for ANDROID SmartPhones
I recommend to download PhoneMe emulator for Android from here. Especially I recommend phoneME Advanced - Foundation Profile + MIDP High Resolution b168 rev20547 from here, or from here.

Then you have to build your application, to transfer the .jar and .jad files on your mobile phone and run using this nice emulator.

1. Install a Zip Utility from Android Market.

2. Install a File Manager from Android Market.

3. Download and install PhoneMe, as mentioned above.

4. Build your application by using Download Multilingual Service or Dynamic Download (zip).

5. Copy the zip file into your Android Phone and unzip the content in a folder, and then write down the path to the unzipped files and the name of the .jad file.

6. Launch PhoneMe from your smartphone.

7. Inside PhoneMe, write to the main window the path and the name to the .jad file, above mentioned. Will look something like: file:///mnt/sd/download/BiblePhone.jad and then press enter.

8. The application will be installed, and next a hyperlink will be available below the above mentioned textbox. On this way you can install as many of MIDP application you like on your Android Phone.


How to install the application in Java Mobile enabled phones

It is possible now to have the Holy Scriptures on your mobile phone and to read it wherever you are due to the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) technology in 1.0 and 2.0 versions, developed for Java applications.

A good advice is to try in the beginning the MIDP 1.0 / 128 Kbytes version, and progressively to advance to MIDP 2.0 and larger volumes (512 Kbytes or more).

The application is available for MIDP 2.0, MIDP 1.0. You have only to select one table on the field MIDP2.0 or MIDP1.0, according to the desired Bible version. Then, you shall make a click on the JAR (Java Archive) file in order to obtain the software to be installed on your mobile phone.

I recommend you to start with STARTER(MIDP1.0old) edition, then to continue with INTERMEDIATE(MIDP1.0), and in the end, if the mobile phone supports this thing, to try to install the ADVANCED (MIDP2.0) edition. Also, start with 128 kbytes volumes, continue with 512 kbytes, and at the end try the version in one file.

There are cases where the mobile phone requires so called JAD (Java Descriptor) files. These JAD files has to be uploaded, on this case, together with the desired JAR files(s).

There are different methods to download the applications in your mobile phone as follows:
1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone
3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone
4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
5. If none from the above cases are valid

Next, we shall examine each case in order to have a successfully installation of the software.


1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
 

If your have Internet access on your mobile phone (e.g. WAP or GPRS), it is enough to access https://biblephone.intercer.net/wap/  from the browser of the mobile phone, and to access the desired Bible version, and then to make an option about MIDP1.0 or MIDP2.0, and finally to select the desired module (e.g. one or more). After the last selection, the desired version will be downloaded on your mobile phone.

Many phones have only this option for installing JAVA appplications.

2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone

Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.

If you don't have access to Internet directly from your mobile phone, then you shall have to pass to this step requiring to have infrared ports on your mobile phone and on the computer.
a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have to activate the infrared port on the mobile phone and align it with the infrared port of the computer (preferable laptop).

c. Then a window will appear asking what file you want to send to the mobile phone. Next, you will select the downloaded JAR file, and after OK, the mobile phone will ask you if you want to load that file. You say YES and the application will be downloaded on your mobile phone.
d. Probably, you will be asked by the mobile phone where you want to save it (e.g. on the games or applications directories). After you made this selection, the file will be ready to be loaded for run.
The displaying preference can be set inside the application in order to have larger fonts, full screen display etc.

3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone

Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.
This situation is similar with the infrared case. You have only to activate Bluetooth access on your mobile phone (check if exists) and on the computer (check if exists).

4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.
On this case the steps are as follows:

a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have to set up the wired connection between the mobile phone and the computer. Next, you will start the synchronization / data transfer application and download the JAR file in your mobile phone. Surely, you will have to consult the CD of your mobile phone.
c. By this application you shall transfer into your mobile phone the JAR file in the games or applications directories. Next, you will have to select for run the JAR desired file.

5. If none from the above cases are valid
On this unhappy case, I recommend you to find a friend with a laptop having infrared / Bluetooth capabilities, or to buy a data link cable, or to change your current model of mobile phone.
Unfortunately, some models of mobile phones require only WAP/GPRS in order to download and run Java applications.


Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones. Therefore check the documentation of them and also the page for specific models.

Why so many versions? Simple, because not all the mobile phones support the Bible in one file with MIDP 2.0 (the most advanced for the time being).
