17:1 Prorocie impotriva Damascului: Iata, Damascul nu va mai fi o cetate, ci va ajunge un morman de daramaturi;

Proorocie impotriva Damascului. Vezi comentariul la cap. 13,1. Versetele 1-11 constituie o solie impotriva Damascului si a lui Israel. Sa ne amintim ca pe timpul lui Ahaz, Siria era unita cu Israel intr-o alianta impotriva lui Iuda si ca Isaia prezisese infrangerea atat a Siriei, cat si a lui Israel (cap. 7,1-16). Profetia de aici se ocupa cu judecati mai cuprinzatoare.

Nu va mai fi o cetate. O grea lovitura se va abate asupra Damascului; ea nu se va mai afla in randul marilor cetati ale lumii. Pentru un timp cetatea pare sa fi zacut in ruine, dar a fost rezidita in cele din urma, deoarece o suta de ani mai tarziu Ieremia vestea noi solii impotriva ei (Ieremia 49,23-27).



17:2 cetatile Aroerului sunt parasite, sunt date spre pasune turmelor, care se culca nestingherite acolo.

Cetatile Aroerului. Nici un teritoriu cu acest nume nu este cunoscut in Siria, desi exista o cetate cu acest nume pe teritoriul israelit, la rasarit de Iordan (Numeri 32,34; Deuteronom 2,36; 3,12; Iosua 13,25; 2Samuel 24,5). Probabil pentru a evita aceasta aparenta dificultate sau poate luandu-se dupa un alt text ebraic, LXX zice: ,,Cetatile lui vor fi pururea parasite”. Cetatile din cuprinsul teritoriului amintit urmau sa fie atat de deplin nimicite, incat de aici inainte urmau sa pasca turme in locurile unde inainte fusesera cetati infloritoare.



17:3 S-a ispravit cu cetatuia lui Efraim, si s-a sfarsit cu imparatia Damascului; dar ramasita Siriei va fi ca slava copiilor lui Israel, zice Domnul ostirilor.

Efraim. Efraim (regatul nordic, Israel) este inca legat de Siria in mintea profetului. Dupa cum cele doua natiuni fusesera unite intr-un atac comun impotriva lui Iuda (2Regi 16,5; Isaia 7,1.2), tot asa ele vor suferi o pedeapsa comuna hotarata de Domnul (vezi comentariul la Isaia 7,4.7.16).

Slava. Slava lui Israel a fost ceva efemer, care avea sa treaca in curand. La fel va fi si cu ramasita Siriei.



17:4 In ziua aceea, slava lui Iacov va fi slabita, si grasimea carnii lui va pieri.

Iacov. Aici evident insemnand Efraim, regatul nordic. Cele zece triburi vor suferi distrugerea. Prin urmare, solia aceasta trebuie sa fi fost data inainte de 723/722 i.Hr., cand regatul nordic si-a ajuns sfarsitul (vezi Vol. II, p. 85, 160).



17:5 Se va intampla ca atunci cand strange seceratorul graul, si bratul lui taie spicele; da, ca la stransul spicelor in valea Refaim;

Seceratorul. Imaginea se schimba acum cu aceea a unui secerator care strange ,,grau” (grane; vezi comentariul la Levitic 2,14) pe camp. In mod similar, cetatile lui Israel urmau sa fie secerate de crudul navalitor asirian.

Valea Refaim. Aceasta era pietroasa dar rodnica ,,vale a uriasilor” la sud de Ierusalim, in directia Betleemului (vezi comentariul la Iosua 15,8).



17:6 vor mai ramane doar cateva, ca la scuturatul maslinului: doua, trei masline, pe varful crengilor, patru sau cinci, in ramurile cu roade, zice Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

Scuturatul maslinului [KJV: ,,Culesul strugurilor”]. Ebr. ’oleloth, ,,culesul” fie al strugurilor, fie al maslinilor, dar nu al granelor. Aici se face referire la culegerea unui maslin, dupa cum lamureste restul versetului. Se repeta ideea unei ramasite care va scapa de nimicirea totala, de asta data in Israel. Chiar daca judecata va veni si natiunea ca un tot va suferi o lovitura devastatoare, cativa din popor urmau sa scape, ca maslinele ramase in varful unui pom dupa ce ramurile au fost scuturate cu putere. Aceasta idee a ramasitei apare iarasi si iarasi de-a lungul cartii lui Isaia, ca in capitolele 10,20-22; 11,11.16; 37,4.32. ,,Ramasita” este totdeauna grupul care supravietuieste unui timp de pedeapsa divina data lui Iuda pentru abaterile lui. Probabil ca ramasita a invatat sa asculte si poate fi considerata ca Ii va ramane credincioasa lui Dumnezeu.

17:7 In ziua aceea, omul se va uita spre Facatorul sau, si ochii i se vor intoarce spre Sfantul lui Israel;

Se va uita spre Facatorul sau. Pedeapsa nu va fi in zadar, caci ea ii va face pe cei plini de ravna si sinceri sa priveasca spre Dumnezeu. Solia speciala adresata poporului pe timpul lui Isaia era: ,,Iata Dumnezeul vostru!” (cap. 40,9). S-ar putea sa fie nevoie de dezamagire amara si dezastru pentru a abate privirea oamenilor de la cele pamantesti, dar judecatile Domnului ii vor determina in cele din urma sa-si mute privirile de la idolii lor la Creatorul lor.



17:8 nu se va mai uita spre altare, care sunt lucrarea mainilor lui, si nu va mai privi la ce au facut degetele lui, la idolii Astartei si la stalpii inchinati soarelui.

Ce au facut degetele lui. Adica, idolii (vezi Deuteronom 4,28; Isaia 2,8; 31,7; 37,19; Osea 14,3; Mica 5,13). Paganii alergau dupa ajutor la zeii pe care ei insisi ii facusera; evreii isi gaseau ajutorul la Dumnezeul care era Facatorul lor.



17:9 In ziua aceea, cetatile lui intarite vor fi ca daramaturile din padure si de pe varful muntelui, parasite odinioara inaintea copiilor lui Israel: va fi o pustie!

Verset ce nu a fost comentat.

17:10 Caci ai uitat pe Dumnezeul mantuirii tale, si nu ti-ai adus aminte de Stanca scaparii tale. De aceea ti-ai sadit rasaduri placute, si ai sadit butuci straini.

Stanca. Dumnezeu este adevarata aparare a poporului Sau (Psalmi 28,1; 31,2; 62;2; 71,3; 89,26; 95,1). Parasindu-L pe Domnul, zadarnic vor cauta oamenii protectie prin intermediul ritualurilor idolatre.

Rasaduri placute. Acestea erau plante ca graul, orzul sau diferite feluri de zarzavaturi sau flori, sadite in cosuri si ghivece si facute sa germineze repede. Ele erau privite ca simbolizand puterea magica a zeilor fertilitatii. Oricat de puternice erau considerate aceste divinitati ale naturii, de fapt ele nu posedau nici o putere si nu puteau face nimic pentru inchinatorii lor.

Butuci straini. Literal, ,,mladite” sau ,,crengute” ale unor ,,[zei] straini” sau ,,[zei] neingaduiti” (vezi Psalmi 44,20; 81,9), mladite imbobocite folosite la fel ca ,,rasadurile placute”.



17:11 Cand i-ai sadit, i-ai inconjurat cu un gard, si in curand i-ai vazut inflorind. Dar culesul roadelor a fugit tocmai in clipa veseliei: si durerea este fara leac.

Culesul roadelor. De la aceste plante care cresteau repede nu se putea astepta o recolta bogata. Pe cat de repede rasareau plantele, pe tot atat de repede se ofileau. Ideea pare sa fie ca oamenii, dupa ce L-au parasit pe Dumnezeu, adevarata lor putere, in zadar mai cauta putere la zeii fertilitatii. Zeitatile acestea nu ii vor lasa decat cu o recolta de durere si dezamagire in ziua primejdiei si infrangerii.



17:12 Vai! ce vuiet de popoare multe, care urla cum urla marea! Ce zarva de neamuri, care mugesc cum mugesc niste ape puternice.

Popoare multe. Puterea impotriva careia este rostit vaiul acesta nu este numita. Totusi, ea era vreun vrajmas al poporului lui Dumnezeu care urma sa vina impotriva lor ca apele unui potop urias, amenintand sa-i acopere cu totul. O asemenea profetie fusese data cu privire la Asiria (cap. 8,7.8) si s-ar putea ca acest imperiu sa fie puterea la care se face referire aici.



17:13 Neamurile mugesc cum mugesc apele mari Dar cand le mustra Dumnezeu, ele fug departe, izgonite ca pleava de pe munti la suflarea vantului, ca tarana luata de vartej.

Le mustra Dumnezeu. Cu toate ca ostirile asiriene sub Sanherib amenintau sa inunde cu totul Iuda, Domnul a mijlocit (vezi cap. 37,36). In loc de a-l coplesi pe Iuda, vrajmasul va fi el insusi coplesit.

Pleava de pe munti. Simbolurile folosite aici exprima bine completa slabiciune si lipsa de insemnatate a ostirilor asiriene inaintea puterii lui Dumnezeu. Intr-o clipa ele se repezeau ca apele furioase ale unei mari mari, amenintand sa copleseasca tara lui Iuda; in urmatoarea, ele vor fi ca pleava sau ca puful scaietilor alungat de vant.

Ca tarana [KJV: ,,Ceva ce se rostogoleste”]. Literal, ,,roata”, dar aici se presupune ca se refera la caliciul uscat, in forma de roata, al scaietelui Gundelia tournefortii.



17:14 Pe inserate, vine o prapadenie neasteptata, si pana dimineata, nu mai sunt! Iata partea celor ce ne jupoaie, si soarta celor ce ne jefuiesc.

Pana dimineata. Noaptea care pentru Sion a inceput cu intuneric si necaz s-a sfarsit cu biruinta si bucurie (vezi cap. 37,22-36). Ce ne jefuiesc. Potrivit cu rapoartele lui Sanherib, el a luat o prada bogata din Iuda cu prilejul celei dintai invazii (vezi Vol. II, p. 64).

Special note for ANDROID SmartPhones
I recommend to download PhoneMe emulator for Android from here. Especially I recommend phoneME Advanced - Foundation Profile + MIDP High Resolution b168 rev20547 from here, or from here.

Then you have to build your application, to transfer the .jar and .jad files on your mobile phone and run using this nice emulator.

1. Install a Zip Utility from Android Market.

2. Install a File Manager from Android Market.

3. Download and install PhoneMe, as mentioned above.

4. Build your application by using Download Multilingual Service or Dynamic Download (zip).

5. Copy the zip file into your Android Phone and unzip the content in a folder, and then write down the path to the unzipped files and the name of the .jad file.

6. Launch PhoneMe from your smartphone.

7. Inside PhoneMe, write to the main window the path and the name to the .jad file, above mentioned. Will look something like: file:///mnt/sd/download/BiblePhone.jad and then press enter.

8. The application will be installed, and next a hyperlink will be available below the above mentioned textbox. On this way you can install as many of MIDP application you like on your Android Phone.


How to install the application in Java Mobile enabled phones

It is possible now to have the Holy Scriptures on your mobile phone and to read it wherever you are due to the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) technology in 1.0 and 2.0 versions, developed for Java applications.

A good advice is to try in the beginning the MIDP 1.0 / 128 Kbytes version, and progressively to advance to MIDP 2.0 and larger volumes (512 Kbytes or more).

The application is available for MIDP 2.0, MIDP 1.0. You have only to select one table on the field MIDP2.0 or MIDP1.0, according to the desired Bible version. Then, you shall make a click on the JAR (Java Archive) file in order to obtain the software to be installed on your mobile phone.

I recommend you to start with STARTER(MIDP1.0old) edition, then to continue with INTERMEDIATE(MIDP1.0), and in the end, if the mobile phone supports this thing, to try to install the ADVANCED (MIDP2.0) edition. Also, start with 128 kbytes volumes, continue with 512 kbytes, and at the end try the version in one file.

There are cases where the mobile phone requires so called JAD (Java Descriptor) files. These JAD files has to be uploaded, on this case, together with the desired JAR files(s).

There are different methods to download the applications in your mobile phone as follows:
1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone
3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone
4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
5. If none from the above cases are valid

Next, we shall examine each case in order to have a successfully installation of the software.


1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
 

If your have Internet access on your mobile phone (e.g. WAP or GPRS), it is enough to access https://biblephone.intercer.net/wap/  from the browser of the mobile phone, and to access the desired Bible version, and then to make an option about MIDP1.0 or MIDP2.0, and finally to select the desired module (e.g. one or more). After the last selection, the desired version will be downloaded on your mobile phone.

Many phones have only this option for installing JAVA appplications.

2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone

Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.

If you don't have access to Internet directly from your mobile phone, then you shall have to pass to this step requiring to have infrared ports on your mobile phone and on the computer.
a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have to activate the infrared port on the mobile phone and align it with the infrared port of the computer (preferable laptop).

c. Then a window will appear asking what file you want to send to the mobile phone. Next, you will select the downloaded JAR file, and after OK, the mobile phone will ask you if you want to load that file. You say YES and the application will be downloaded on your mobile phone.
d. Probably, you will be asked by the mobile phone where you want to save it (e.g. on the games or applications directories). After you made this selection, the file will be ready to be loaded for run.
The displaying preference can be set inside the application in order to have larger fonts, full screen display etc.

3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone

Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.
This situation is similar with the infrared case. You have only to activate Bluetooth access on your mobile phone (check if exists) and on the computer (check if exists).

4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones.
On this case the steps are as follows:

a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have to set up the wired connection between the mobile phone and the computer. Next, you will start the synchronization / data transfer application and download the JAR file in your mobile phone. Surely, you will have to consult the CD of your mobile phone.
c. By this application you shall transfer into your mobile phone the JAR file in the games or applications directories. Next, you will have to select for run the JAR desired file.

5. If none from the above cases are valid
On this unhappy case, I recommend you to find a friend with a laptop having infrared / Bluetooth capabilities, or to buy a data link cable, or to change your current model of mobile phone.
Unfortunately, some models of mobile phones require only WAP/GPRS in order to download and run Java applications.


Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile phones. Therefore check the documentation of them and also the page for specific models.

Why so many versions? Simple, because not all the mobile phones support the Bible in one file with MIDP 2.0 (the most advanced for the time being).
