3:1 Cuvântul Domnului a vorbit a doua oară lui Iona, astfel: A doua oară. Fără să-l mustre pentru dezertarea anterioară a lui Iona, Domnul repetă însărcinarea de a le predica ninivitenilor. Fără să mai cedeze înclinaţiilor omeneşti, Iona ascultă fără întârziere de chemarea cerească şi fără să mai zăbovească pleacă spre Ninive. 3:2 Scoală-te, du-te la Ninive, cetatea cea mare, şi vesteşte acolo strigarea pe care ţi-o voi da! Scoală-te şi du-te. Din cauza repetării acestor cuvinte (vezi cap. 1,2), unii învăţaţi biblici consideră că este probabil că atunci când Iona a fost eliberat din ,,peştele cel mare”, el s-a dus la Ierusalim pentru a ,,aduce jertfe” şi pentru a împlini juruinţele la care s-a făcut aluzie în rugăciunea lui de mulţumire (cap. 2,9). Aceasta este pură presupunere. În vremurile de atunci, o corabie care călătorea de la Iafo la Tars urma probabil linia ţărmului Palestinei către nord. Dacă întâmplarea cu peştele cel mare a avut loc pe la începutul călătoriei, se poate ca Iona să se fi aflat mult mai aproape de Ninive, decât atunci când se îmbarcase (vezi comentariul la cap. 1,3; vezi harta, p. 994). Vesteşte. Sau ,,Predică”. Ebr. qara’, cuvântul tradus ,,strigă” în cap. 1,2. Pe care ţi-o voi da. Însărcinarea dată lui Iona este aceea dată oricărui propovăduitor al cuvântului. Numai cuvântul lui Dumnezeu trebuie să fie vestit de la amvon, şi nu cuvântul omului (vezi 2Timotei 4,1.2). Sufletele neliniştite şi îngrijorate din lumea noastră plină de necazuri de astăzi tânjesc să primească sfat de la Dumnezeu, nu părerile şi filozofiile lipsite de conţinut şi nesigure ale unor oameni la fel de supuşi greşelii ca şi ei. Ei preferă un: ,,Aşa zice Domnul”, unui ,,Aşa zice un om”. 3:3 Şi Iona s-a sculat, şi s-a dus la Ninive, după Cuvântul Domnului. Şi Ninive era o cetate foarte mare, cât o călătorie de trei zile. Iona s-a sculat. Profetul era acum dispus să îndeplinească însărcinarea dată lui de Dumnezeu în aceeaşi măsură în care mai înainte fusese gata să fugă de ea. Foarte mare. Ebr. le’lohim, literal, ,,pentru Dumnezeu”, un mod idiomatic de a arăta extrema mărime. Cu privire la dimensiunile cetăţii vezi Nota Adiţională la capitolul 1. 3:4 Iona a început să pătrundă în oraş, cale de o zi, strigând şi zicând: Încă patruzeci de zile, şi Ninive va fi nimicită! Cale de o zi. Nu trebuie să deducem din această afirmaţie că Iona a mers timp de o zi întreagă înainte de a-şi începe predica. Afirmaţia este probabil raportul predicării din prima zi. Fără îndoială că imediat ce a pătruns în cetate, Iona a început să-şi vestească solia lui de avertizare. Încă patruzeci de zile. Nu este nevoie să se presupună că aceste cuvinte constituiau textul complet al soliei lui Iona. Ele constituiau, totuşi, tema dominantă a avertizării lui. Nimicită. Ebr. haphak, cuvânt folosit în Geneza 19,21.25.29 pentru a descrie nimicirea Sodomei. 3:5 Oamenii din Ninive au crezut în Dumnezeu, au vestit un post, şi s-au îmbrăcat cu saci, de la cei mai mari până la cei mai mici. Au crezut în Dumnezeu. Cu privire la fundalul posibil, interpretat de unii ca ajutând la succesul predicării lui Iona, vezi p. 995, 996. Saci. Un material aspru de culoare închisă ţesut din păr de capră şi purtat în timp de doliu şi de nenorocire (vezi Daniel 9,3; Matei 11,21; Luca 10,13). 3:6 Lucrul a ajuns la urechea împăratului din Ninive; el s-a sculat de pe scaunul lui de domnie, şi-a scos mantia de pe el, s-a acoperit cu un sac, şi a şezut în cenuşă. Împăratului. Posibil Adad-Nirari III (vezi p. 996). Simţământul de întristare şi pocăinţă pare să se fi născut în chip spontan în inima oamenilor fără vreo poruncă regală oficială (v. 5). Este un spectacol remarcabil acela de a-l vedea pe un domnitor al celui mai puternic imperiu al timpului său că se smereşte ,,în cenuşă” ca urmare a predicării unui profet străin. Ce mustrare pentru conducătorii şi cetăţenii îngâmfaţi ai lui Israel, care au refuzat stăruitor să-şi smerească inima sub impactul unei lucrări profetice mai extinse şi continue (vezi 2Regi 17,7-18). 3:7 Şi a trimis să se dea de ştire în Ninive, din porunca împăratului şi mai marilor lui, următoarele: Oamenii şi vitele, boii şi oile, să nu guste nimic, să nu pască, şi nici să nu bea apă deloc! Să se dea de ştire. Când valul penitenţei şi al smeririi care a pornit de la popor a ajuns la împărat, el a confirmat postul printr-un decret oficial. Mai marii lui erau alături de el în darea acestui decret, arătând că duhul lor era în aceeaşi stare ca şi a lui în criza aceasta. Şi vitele. Un decret straniu, dar trebuie să ne amintim că era dat de un împărat păgân, care fusese luminat numai parţial. Un obicei asemănător este povestit în cartea apocrifă Iudita, scrisă probabil în secolul al II-lea î.Hr.: ,,Atunci întreg Israelul strigă către Dumnezeu cu mare râvnă şi se smeri cu înfocare. Atât ei cât şi femeile şi copiii lor, vitele şi străinii şi simbriaşii şi robii cumpăraţi se încinseră cu sac peste coapsele lor.” (Iudita 4,9.10). Herodot raportează că la un anumit prilej, Perşii şi-au tăiat şi părul lor şi părul (coamele şi cozile?) cailor şi vitelor lor de povară într-un timp de doliu general (ix, 24). Dar în ce măsură practicile acestea vor fi reflectat obiceiurile asiriene, nu ştim. 3:8 Ci oamenii şi vitele să se acopere cu saci, să strige cu putere către Dumnezeu, şi să se întoarcă de la calea lor cea rea şi de la faptele de asuprire, de care le sunt pline mâinile! Să se întoarcă. Adică, oamenii. Faptele religioase exterioare sunt lipsite de valoare spirituală dacă nu sunt însoţite de o reformă sinceră, lăuntrică a caracterului. -8- Asuprire. Compară Amos 3,10. 3:9 Cine ştie dacă nu Se va întoarce Dumnezeu şi Se va căi, şi dacă nu-Şi va opri mânia Lui aprinsă, ca să nu pierim! Cine ştie? Este îndoielnic că Iona va fi dat vreo făgăduinţă despre o posibilă inversare a decretului divin. Mânia lui cu prilejul cruţării cetăţii (cap. 4,1) arată că el nu făcuse aşa ceva. Cu toate acestea el era extrem de conştient de caracterul îndurător al lui Dumnezeu (cap. 4,2). 3:10 Dumnezeu a văzut ce făceau ei şi că se întorceau de la calea lor cea rea. Atunci Dumnezeu S-a căit de răul pe care se hotărâse să li-l facă, şi nu l-a făcut. Se întorceau. Compară Matei 12,41; vezi PK 363. Dumnezeu S-a căit. Dumnezeu nu Se schimbă, aşa cum se întâmplă cu împrejurările (vezi Ieremia 18,7-10; Ezechiel 33,13-16). Avertizările Lui cu privire la judecată sunt adesea, de fapt, profeţii condiţionale (vezi comentariul la Ezechiel 25,1). Special note for ANDROID SmartPhones
I recommend to download PhoneMe emulator for Android from here.
Especially I recommend phoneME Advanced - Foundation Profile + MIDP High Resolution b168 rev20547 from here, or from here.
Then you have to build your application, to transfer the .jar and .jad files on your mobile phone and run using this nice emulator.
1. Install a Zip Utility from Android Market.
2. Install a File Manager from Android Market.
3. Download and install PhoneMe, as mentioned above.
4. Build your application by using Download Multilingual Service or Dynamic Download (zip).
5. Copy the zip file into your Android Phone and unzip the content in a folder, and then write down the path to the unzipped files and the name of the .jad file.
6. Launch PhoneMe from your smartphone.
7. Inside PhoneMe, write to the main window the path and the name to the .jad file, above mentioned. Will look something like: file:///mnt/sd/download/BiblePhone.jad and then press enter.
8. The application will be installed, and next a hyperlink will be available below the above mentioned textbox. On this way you can install as many of MIDP application you like on your Android Phone.
How to install the application in Java Mobile enabled phones
It is possible now to have the Holy Scriptures on your mobile phone and to read
it wherever you are due to the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP)
technology in 1.0 and 2.0 versions, developed for Java applications.
A good advice is to try in the beginning the MIDP 1.0 / 128 Kbytes version, and
progressively to advance to MIDP 2.0 and larger volumes (512 Kbytes or more).
The application is available for MIDP 2.0, MIDP 1.0. You have only to select one
table on the field MIDP2.0 or MIDP1.0, according to the desired Bible version.
Then, you shall make a click on the JAR (Java Archive) file in order to obtain
the software to be installed on your mobile phone.
I recommend you to start with STARTER(MIDP1.0old) edition, then to continue with
INTERMEDIATE(MIDP1.0), and in the end, if the mobile phone supports this thing,
to try to install the ADVANCED (MIDP2.0) edition. Also, start with 128 kbytes
volumes, continue with 512 kbytes, and at the end try the version in one file.
There are cases where the mobile phone requires so called JAD (Java Descriptor)
files. These JAD files has to be
uploaded, on this case, together with the desired JAR files(s).
There are different methods to download the applications in your mobile phone as
follows:
1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone
3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone
4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
5. If none from the above cases are valid
Next, we shall examine each case in order to have a successfully installation of
the software.
1. Directly from Internet by using a WAP or GPRS connection
If your have Internet access on your mobile phone (e.g. WAP or GPRS), it is
enough to access
https://biblephone.intercer.net/wap/ from the browser of the mobile phone,
and to access the desired Bible version, and then to make an option about
MIDP1.0 or MIDP2.0, and finally to select the desired module (e.g. one or more).
After the last selection, the desired version will be downloaded on your mobile
phone.
Many phones have only this option for installing JAVA appplications.
2. By using the infrared port of the mobile phone
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile
phones.
If you don't have access to Internet directly from your mobile phone, then you
shall have to pass to this step requiring to have infrared ports on your mobile
phone and on the computer.
a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from
the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have
to activate the infrared port on the mobile phone and align it with the infrared
port of the computer (preferable laptop).
c. Then a window will appear asking what file you want to send to the mobile
phone. Next, you will select the downloaded JAR file, and after OK, the mobile
phone will ask you if you want to load that file. You say YES and the
application will be downloaded on your mobile phone.
d. Probably, you will be asked by the mobile phone where you want to save it (e.g.
on the games or applications directories). After you made this selection, the
file will be ready to be loaded for run.
The displaying preference can be set inside the application in order to have
larger fonts, full screen display etc.
3. By wireless Bluetooth access to the mobile phone
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile
phones.
This situation is similar with the infrared case. You have only to activate
Bluetooth access on your mobile phone (check if exists) and on the computer (check
if exists).
4. By cable link between PC ad mobile phone
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific
mobile phones.
On this case the steps are as follows:
a. On this case, you will download the application by using the computer from
the Internet (i.e. JAR files).
b. Once the application is downloaded (preferable on the desktop) you will have
to set up the wired connection between the mobile phone and the computer. Next,
you will start the synchronization / data transfer application and download the
JAR file in your mobile phone. Surely, you will have to consult the CD of your
mobile phone.
c. By this application you shall transfer into your mobile phone the JAR file in
the games or applications directories. Next, you will have to select for run the
JAR desired file.
5. If none from the above cases are valid
On this unhappy case, I recommend you to find a friend with a laptop having
infrared / Bluetooth capabilities, or to buy a data link cable, or to change
your current model of mobile phone.
Unfortunately, some models of mobile phones require only WAP/GPRS in order to
download and run Java applications.
Sometimes there is a need for a special uploader software for specific mobile
phones. Therefore check the documentation of them and also the page for specific
models.
Why so many versions? Simple, because not all the mobile phones support the
Bible in one file with MIDP 2.0 (the most advanced for the time being).
